I HEART MY VINYL

WHAT RECORD I HEART:
LeShok – S & M, Slamdance Cosmopolis 01, Recorded 2000, Released 2001

WHY IT’S SPECIAL:
This new wave punk band featured members of the Locust and released this 3 song 7 inch in 2001. I’ve never played or opened this record once so who knows what the 7 inch inside looks or sounds like. On the side of the record, keeping it closed, it has a little sticker that says;

“This 7 inch has a BONUS song pressed onto the record cover. The playable cover DOES NOT play on all turntables… IF IT doesn’t play on yours we suggest you go to your friends (sic) house and try her record player cause the song is fucking great.”

How fucking awesome is that??

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE:

WHAT’S ON IT:
“No Fun at the Beaches”
b/w
“I Want the Beat”
“White Outs”

I am a little hard pressed to find a track by Le Shok, let alone one that was one this 7 inch… anyone got a le shok song out there that I can add to this post??

I did find this..

how fucking brilliant is this video? even with him getting punched in the middle of it.. Oh SD, how can I not love you and your ridiculous hair.

Anyone else got this one??

WHY IT’S SPECIAL:
Mostly cause I was really into this band when I moved to NYC and it was the first show I ever saw at ABC No Rio, which also happened to be one of their last shows. This record is number 74 out of 100 and I am sure they cost a shit ton on EBAY. Right?

Level Plane Records (HERE.)

WHY IT’S SPECIAL: Just look at the design of this amazing 7 inch. the hole for record is NOT popped out so I only played it once, propped up on turntable. it’s clear vinyl with an amazing sticker / type on the record.. and there’s a tag that comes along with it with the record’s info on it (and my old work address.)

WHY IT’S SPECIAL:
I found this little gem at the WMFU record fair a few years ago and it was just as I started loving Shellac again and just had to buy it. I’d love to know how limited this record is, anyone have any idea?

So there’s two records this week. I love them both so I figured i’d include both of them.. Big shocker, At the Drive in is featured in this one. As most of you know, probably my favorite band of all time, check out these two releases, my favorite 45s by them.. Also if you aren’t aware of this, the singer and guitarist of At the Drive-in now are the main two players behind The Mars Volta.

WHAT RECORDS I HEART:
a. AT THE DRIVE-IN / BURNING AIRLINES –
RECORDED BY: Mike Major / J. Robbins, CATALOG NUMBER: THK-066 : 7″ picture disc (split), ARTWORK BY: Damon Locks, RELEASE DATE: 2000

b. AT THE DRIVE-IN / THE AASEE LAKE –
RECORDED BY: Alex Newport / Kevin Ratterman, CATALOG NUMBER – Nerd Rock Records No. 3, Ghetto Defendant #5, 1999.

WHY IT’S SPECIAL:
DAMN just look at the picture disc. The artwork is great and the song is actually better. I have three of these records lying around, along with an Alkaline Trio one that looks just like it…

The other split record is individually hand painted and must have been sold out in no time.

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE:

WHAT’S ON IT:
AT THE DRIVE-IN / BURNING AIRLINES – ‘Catacomb / The Deluxe War Baby’
(the version below is different from the ones on the B-Sides comp)

At the Drive-in – Catacombs (7inch version)

AT THE DRIVE-IN / THE AASEE LAKE – ‘Doorman’s Placebo / The Dualistic Struggle between Good and Evil within Ticket Lines and Reality’

At the Drive-in – Doorman’s Placebo

I have trouble believing this, but it says that the picture disc is still available at THICK RECORDS HERE.

Anyone else got these??

So here it is, this one is going to be a good one. SO I am going to try to update this one as much as I can, cause it’s pretty easy..

So as you may or may not know, I have a lot of 45′s (7 inches). A lot is relative of course but I think I have a lot. Anyway, I have a ton of them in about 9 of these boxes:

anyway so here it goes..

WHAT RECORD I HEART: Fugazi – Song # 1 (Sub Pop Records Singles Club SP052), Green Vinyl, Released: 1989-12-01 (7 inch)

WHY IT’S SPECIAL: I really love this record just cause it was the very first limited edition record I knew was worth something. I didn’t get it when it came out on the SubPop club but I got it through ebay and I knew it was worth something. It’s just everything I love in a record *(without unreleased songs).
