Title Tracks

Title Tracks, featuring John Davis from Q And Not U and Georgie James, released its debut single Every Little Bit Hurts b/w Found Out on Dischord Records April 6th.The band will be playing select dates in DC and beyond throughout the summer.

Medications

Medications are working on material for a new album that they hope to have ready for a late ‘09 or early ‘10 release.

The Andalusians

The Andalusians have remained busy on the road. The band recently wrapped up a trek along the east coast and New England and is planning regional touring for the fall.

The Aquarium

The Aquarium have recorded two new songs that will be released on a Dischord single this fall. The band is also beginning to think about recording a full-length and will be playing select shows this summer and fall.

Joe Lally

Joe Lally wrapped up his final US dates in June and is working on shows for Japan in October and the UK and Ireland in November. In the meantime he will be spending time closer to his home in Italy to write.

Gray Matter

Dischord is going to be re-issuing the Gray Matter albums, Take it Back and Food For Thought on vinyl in September. Both albums will feature free MP3 download codes. In addition, the Take It Back Ep is being expanded into a full-length with the addition of 4 songs from the double seven inch they released in 1991.

Jawbox

Dischord is working with Desoto Records to re-issue the 1994 Jawbox album, For Your Own Special Sweetheart, later this fall. The CD will feature 3 extra songs and the vinyl will feature an MP3 download coupon (which also includes the 3 extra tracks).

Don Zientara

Don Zientara has released his latest collection of songs, I Was Waiting, as a download from the Norther Liberties imprint. The album is available here from the Dischord web-store and will be available on itunes, e-music and other download services in the near future.

Guy Picciotto w/ Vic Chesnutt

Guy Picciotto (Fugazi) is featured on the new Vic Chesnutt album, At The Cut, which will be released on Constellation in September. Guy will also join Vic on tour upon the release of the album and we’ll have dates posted on the Dischord website when they become available.

Jem Cohen

On July 15th filmmaker Jem Cohen (Instrument, Chain, Benjamin Smoke) and special guests Ian MacKaye (Evens, Fugazi, Minor Threat) and John Cohen (That High Lonesome Sound, There Is No Eye) presented an evening of screenings and discussion at the IFC in NYC exploring folk, punk and underground filmmaking as forms of homemade expression. This presentation was part of a 3 part series called, Movie Nights With Jem Cohen, which is being held at the IFC this summer. Check the IFC website for future dates.

Soft Power

Mary Timony has formed a new band with Jonah Takagi, Winston Yu and T.J. Lipple called Soft Power (previously called Pow Wow). They have several dates booked along the east coast for late July and early August.

Benjy Ferree

Benjy Ferree has released his new album, Come back To The Five and Dime Bobby Dee Bobby Dee, and is going on tour with Black Hollies this September.

Lovitt Records

Lovitt has a ton of releases coming out this fall including: The Mercury Program, Chez Viking CD/LP, Fin Fang Foom, Monomyth CD/LP, Quieting Syrup CD, Ben Davis And The Jetts, Charge It Up! CD, Des Ark, Don’t Rock The Boat. Sink The Fucker CD/LP and a Bats & Mice 7″. Lovitt also recently repressed Pygmy Lush, Mount Hope on 180 gram vinyl and included a download coupon for MP3s with it.

Clark Sabine, 1975-2009

Clark Sabine, our friend and fellow musician, died on June 16th after a short but intense last battle with cancer. He was 33 years old. Clark played in Statehood, Andalusians, and Motorcycle Wars, where his hilarious and ridiculous stage entrances are still legend around these parts. He was a character with manic creative energy who held a deep affection for all of us who shared his passion for music in the Washington, DC underground. He will be missed. Our hearts go out to his family, band-mates, and friends. They formed an incredible support network in the last few weeks of his life, surrounding him with love and comfort, as well as laughter… that joy that Clark shared with so many of us.

Hello all,
I am working on a new movie starring with Queen Latifah and Common, called “Just Wright.”
I am looking for some people for a huge crowd scene for the movie.

Below I have put all the information regarding the film. We have two different emails for those interested in working on the film. One email is for people who are available and willing to work for all the days of shoot. The other email
is for those who can only work 1 or 2 of the days. Those people who are available all three days will be considered first before those only available for some of the days.

INFORMATION:
Pay; $105 dollars for 12 hours of work.
Days: Wednesday August 12th, Thursday August 13th and Friday August 14th.
Times: we are not sure about this. we expect it to go from mid morning till night time. If you are not available all day and night,
please please, do not submit for it.
Where; East Rutherford, NJ. WE WILL NEED EVERYONE TO SELF REPORT. IF YOU CAN NOT GET THERE YOURSELF, DO NOT SUBMIT.
Wardrobe; we will give you this before the shoot sometime.
What we’re looking for: Everyone. Kids to Adults, Either Gender, Any Ethnicity.
Union: NON SAG only. (if you don’t know what this means, it means you’re NON SAG)
you must be US Citizen or have a valid US passport, Greencard. Everyone must have a Social Security number.

WE WILL GIVE EVERYONE WHO IS CAST THE EXACT INFORMATION (call times, location to park, wardrobe, etc.) ON THE DAY BEFORE THE SHOOT.
NO ONE SHOULD JUST SHOW UP WITHOUT TALKING TO SOMEONE FROM CASTING.
