So about 9 years ago, a year after I moved from SF to NYC, my friend Frank called me to tell me that The Get Up Kids and At the Drive-in were playing Bottom of the Hill in SF on my birthday. I flew out, had a birthday party, saw Fight Club in the theater and went to the show which is great.

Two months ago, when I found out that the Get up Kids were doing a reunion show, I was all over it. I sent an email out to Frank and he said he was coming out…

I haven’t seen the Get Up Kids since who knows when but I am sure it was at Brownies or Coney Island High, both NYC venues that don’t exist anymore..

But let me tell you it was a great show, I ran into GONZ and we completely acted like we were 20 again.

They played all the hits and even did a Cure cover of “Close to Me.” Below is a video of the best song they did all night. Hope you like..
