faint 1 (dåg för dåg)

the show took place at an old exhibition hall in cologne and as expected, the location was pretty.

the audience was kinda different to the last Faint show i’ve been to (must have been 4 years ago), there have been more teenagers and a ton of electro kids, that look like hardcore kids in super tight pants.

anyway, first band to play was dåg för dåg from sweden. i hadn’t heard of them before, but to my surprise, i really liked them. imagine a sound somewhere between the b-52’s and the new trust (great band by the way) with a female singer and a male singer. these guys definitely rocked. good job.

next up the faint. a small group of teenagers around me got pretty excited and i was afraid they would faint (how funny would that have been?), but in the end they did nothing but stared at the band… at a dance party.

and that’s what it was a dance party. at the least people in the front totally freaked out. in other words: this show was fun.

the band started their show with “agenda suicide” – a goddamn hit.

their set contained mostly new songs (e.g. like the geeks were right, psycho, get seduced, mirror error) plus some songs of the wet from birth album.

the new songs didn’t work that well. mainly ‘cause the crowd didn’t know them and if you ask me, they tend to be boring. but i won’t complain.

they played a coupled of great songs and the audience went totally crazy on the wet from birth songs (e.g. dropkick the punks, paranoiattack, i disappear). especially paranoiattack, which turned out to be a crowd favorite, which wasn’t a big surprise cause the song was a huge disco hit in germany in the last years.
people even started crowd surfing and jumping. pretty strange.

unfortunately the last song (glass danse!! i love it!) didn’t wow the kids which i really didn’t understand.

as for the band, the singer was dancin’ like a maniac the whole set through and looked a little like a mad professor with his sunglasses on.

but since i’m still a sucker for crazy keyboarders, i have to say that the keyboard dude was definitely the raddest guy on stage. a ton of fun to watch.

in general the band seemed to have a lot of fun on stage. the only disappointment was the video show in the background. last time i saw the band the show fitted the songs perfectly (showing parts of the lyrics, related pics), but this time it was nothing special.

upshot: great show, strange audience. but i got a new bag. too bad i forgot to buy a copy of the ep by dåg för dåg. maybe next time. i’ll check them out again for sure.
