So last night I got to see Mr. Paul Simon live at BAM’s Opera House. The show was very very packed and was filled with everyone from the lesbian doctors in front of me to the kids with the PLO scarves.
The show started at about 815p and went to about 1030p..
Here is a set list from what I can remember and who did what song.
American Tune - the Roche Sisters (w/ Paul Simon)
Me and Julio down by the Schoolyard - Paul Simon
Graceland - Grizzly Bear
Mother and Child Reunion - Grizzly Bear
Peace like a River - Amos Lee
Only - Amos Lee
Still Crazy After all these Years - Olu Dara (for those who don’t know it, it’s Nas’ dad)
Slip Slidin’ Away - Olu Dara
50 Ways to leave Your Lover - Olu Dara
America - Josh Grobin
Silent Eyes (maybe) - Josh Grobin (w/ guests)
Bridge over Troubled Water - Josh Grobin (w/ Paul Simon)
Cecilia - The Roches
*i’m missing one song here*
The Boxer- Gillian Welsh
Duncan - Gillian Welsh (MY FAVORITE OF THE NIGHT.)
Sounds of Silence - Gillian Welsh (w/ Paul Simon)
Mrs. Robinson- Paul Simon
Train in the Distance (Negotiations and Love Songs) - Paul Simon
How Can You Live in the Northeast? - Paul Simon
encore
The Only Living Boy in New York - Paul Simon (w/ Roches)
Late in the Evening - Paul Simon
The show was great, I think that the unknown guitarist (who sort of looked like Josh Grobin), Grizzly Bear and Gillian Welsh and of course Paul Simon were the standout performers of the night. The sound sounded amazing and the seats weren’t that bad either.
Below are some Paul Simon covers.
Hot Chip - Graceland (Paul Simon Cover)
Material Issue - The Boxer (Paul Simon cover)
Peter Bjorn and John - Me and Julio Down by the SChoolyard
Jens Lekman - You can Call Me Al (Paul Simon Cover)
Grizzly Bear - Graceland (Paul SImon Cover)

From Art Gafunkel page at Contactmusic 2000
QUOTE: “Although it has been 30 years since Bridge Over Troubled Water was recorded, Art Garfunkel’s image and signature vocal remain among the most instantly recognizable in popular music. His “beautiful countertenor,” as Neil Strauss described Art’s voice in The New York Times, is clear and resonant, surely one of the finest instruments in all of popular music, and a time-honored friend to a world of listeners.”
WHO IS ART GARFUNKEL ?
OH PAUL REMEMBER, YOU SAY “I CONFORT YOU”
BAD,BAD,BAD OLD FRIEND.

Why not buy a PLO scarves also the statue of liberty? He is a little old also.
And all those museums filled with old pictures painted by people dead? Why you stubborn to visit them? There are many beautiful graphites in metropolitan .. go to see those.
And listen to Josh Groban singing Bridge over troubler water. Hi is ‘younger than Art Garfunkel even if they do not have the same angelic voice.
Paul Simon has created unforgettable masterpieces but jealousy and selfishness is destroying his repertoire Americantune. Very important for him to delete the voice of Art Garfunkel, whatever the cost, as it has canceled in the’70s by album Hearts and bones.
What disgusting!

Does anyone know if the BAM set can be heard in ANY form ANYwhere? I’ve been looking, unsuccessfully, off and on for a few days. I’d be ecstatic if anyone can point me in the right direction. Thanks!
