ESSENTIAL RECORDS: Anthrax – Among the Living

One of my favorite metal bands when I was kid, Anthrax’s Among the Living was one of the fastest things I had ever heard back then… At the forefront of thrash and speed metal and also huge Public Enemy and Stephen King fans, at 16, I related to them easily. Also, they were one of the only bands that I could correctly duplicate their logo…
Check out some of my favorite songs from this 1987 record:

Completeness? Happiness? These words don’t come close to describing my emotions. There truly is nothing I can say to capture what motherhood means to me. Unquote. Now this sounds like a fairly straightforward comment until you discover the person saying it does not have a vagina.

Not sure what Donald is going on about in the comment above, but I agree Among the Living is one of the essentials.

Man, that sure brings back memories. I was lucky enough to see them with Public Enemy at the Hammersmith Odeon way back in the day. Do you know how many asses were righteously kicked that night?

Thrash metal didn’t get much better than this set. Sadly, Anthrax never matched their classic, but why should they ?
It is often forgotten that they were the very first metal band to endorse rap music, at a time when it attracted vile racist comment from less open minded metal
“fans”.
Beg, steal or borrow, this is essential.
