All of the subtlety of the songs is gone, especially on 23 Beats Off, Smallpox Champion, and Casavettes. I'm sure a lot of it is the result of these being demos, and the mixing/mastering, etc. but I think they made the right choice. These versions are interesting, and you can definitely hear the Albini sound, but I can understand why they were unhappy with them.
