This Week I give You Quicksand

quicksand

This band is one of my all time favorite bands. They played the most intense rock music that was like a breath of fresh air compared to the horrible Seattle grunge scene that was insanely popular at this time. The bands line up was a line up of New York Hardcore all stars Walter Schreifels, Tom Capone, Alan Cage, and Sergio Vega. The band was around from 1990-1995 then they had a brief reunion in 1997-1998 and did a tour with the Deftones and like all great bands broke up again. This band alone pioneered the “Post Hardcore” sound that so many bands have drawn influence from (I know I have tried to rip them off many times). Even though there is only two properly released full lengths and a few b-sides this band cannot be properly covered in one post so I’m going to break it up into two. So for round 1 I give you 2 songs from in my eyes their best album Slip, and one track from their unreleased LP that they recorded in 1997-1998 before the called it quits again. Enjoy.
