All I plan on listening to for the next three weeks are Unwound, Three Mile Pilot and The Shipping News.
I recently went back to all of these bands and realized how fucking good they were. WOW! Please check out the three bands below. And trust me on this one…
A quick sidebar about Unwound. Back a few years ago, when I was DJing at Black and White in the E. Village. Chloë Sevigny was there. Now we all know she’s pretty fucking cool to begin with. Anyway, she approaches me at like 3am and makes a song request of Unwound. Fucking Unwound. How fucking cool is that? Her product value skyrocketed right there! Awesome.

My memories of seeing Unwound involve exposure to massive amounts of cigarette smoke. Every time I saw that band, I was the only one in the room not smoking. So odd. Does Phillip Morris own Kill Rock Stars? Probably.

why the HOOVER pic for Shipping News?
My most vivid Unwound memory is, unfortunately, Chris Bald stripping and dancing naked on stage during their set. Nightmares….. Great band other than the horrible mental images that get associated.

haha. cause I couldn’t find a picture for unwound actually. I think the picture was labeled wrong I haven’t seen hoover or shipping news live in about 110 years. haha. nice call though..
naked unwound images can have an everlasting effect for sure.

No comments about Three Mile, one the world’s most under rated bands. Been a huge fans since 93′ when a friend of theirs from San Diego turned me on. I can’t even count the # of late night, long distance drives they have brought me through.
