Since March 2006 González has toured North America extensively, selling out shows in every major market. He has appeared on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Carson Daly Show, and with Zero 7 on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. González is also a featured vocalist on the Grammy nominated Zero 7 album ‘The Garden, appearing on four songs including a stunning Zero 7 re-work of González’ own song ‘Crosses.’
In 2006 González also performed at multiple music festivals including Austin’s Austin City Limits, Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl (with Zero 7) Seattle’s Bumbershoot, Chicago’s Intonation Music Festival, and Toronto’s V Fest, as well as on NPR’s All Things Considered, KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic and on AOL’s The Interface. He was the surprise guest at a special KEXP members-only performance at Seattle’s The Triple Door, performed at Spin Magazine’s ‘Spinhouse Live’ showcase series, performed with and opened for Zero 7 on their 2006 tour, and was a featured artist at the Gen Art curated Starbucks Salon during New York City’s Fall Fashion Week.
González also recently appeared in the All Star Tribute to the Beatles as part of George Martin’s honorary induction into the UK Music Hall of Fame. The all-star ensemble was backed by a 31-piece orchestra and included fellow luminaries such as Razorlight’s Johnny Borrell, Queen’s Roger Taylor and UK songbird Corinne Bailey Rae.
In December 2006 González released the “iTunes Live Session EP” which features tracks from his debut album “Veneer” as well as the B-side ‘Suggestions’ and the previously unreleased song ‘Storm.’ Most recently, The Commission of the European Union awarded González a 2006 European Border Breaker Award. This annual award honors artists who have recorded the highest sales for a debut album within the European Union, but outside of their country of production.
With his crystal-clear singing voice and vibrant, classically-inspired playing, González has been hailed as one of today’s most remarkable new artists - testament to the irrefutable power of one man and a guitar. “Veneer” - the Swedish tunesmith’s acclaimed Mute Records debut (reissued April 4) - captures his magical sound in its purest state, simply beautiful and beautifully simple.
González is currently at home in Sweden working on new material for his second solo album (to be released 2007 on Mute North America).
