So, as I had mentioned last week, I tried reading a book a week, last year and failed miserably, not even making it out of my first month. So this year, I am going to try to do 2 books a month. Trust me when I say this, I am no way trying to do this to seem smarter than I am or to try to prove anything besides the fact that I just watch too much tv and spend too much time online. With that being said, here’s my first book report. Enjoy.

Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs by Chuck Klosterman (pictured below)

Let me first say, that I am no way, a literary critic. I can barely spell literary, let alone, give you a proper definition. Without going too much into the content of the book, Chuck Klosterman has collected some of his better essays over his years at SPIN magazine for this book. I will say this, if you are a fan of indie rock, satire or contemporary Sociology, you will love and laugh at this book.

From the importance of the Real World to his respect for Born Agains for their steadfast ‘in-your-faceness’, Chuck Klosterman has a unique voice and one that I often related to throughout the book. I could not believe how much I agreed with in this book. Not only does the author sound like someone you might want to hang out with, he also speaks the vernacular of a young generation.

Always self derogatory, you can’t help but to side with him, even when he is siding with ‘New Country’ or the icons of pop culture. Usually quoting contemporary authors, musicians and artists, Chuck has a nack of really connecting with the reader, often making them laugh out loud and then reconsidering their stances on many different issues. Either way, you will love getting to know Chuck enough to want to read one of his three other books.

As you can see, my book report skills have diminished quite a bit since high school but hopefully by book 26, ill have learned enough to speak intelligently.
