Holy Shit. Went to see Texas is the Reason Reunion Show last night at Irving Plaza, NYC. I went to small preshow party before the show. It was a lot of old friends, listening to 90’s emo classics such as Shift, Gameface, Lifetime, Garden Variety and so many more. We drank some Miller HiLifes and went to the show, tanked.
We got in right before Texas went on.
I had the chance to see Texas twice before when I was younger but for some reason, never got to, so this was my first time seeing them. And they sounded great. Lots of energy, sounded just like the records and even played a song or two that I have never heard.
My only complaint was the volume level. It was soo LOUD at the show. My ears felt like they were bleeding when the show was over. They are still ringing today.
Besides that it was a great experience overall.
I will post some pictures from the show soon. Here is a live song from TEXAS IS THE REASON:

I will speculate that the reason you didn’t see them the first go-round was because when they originally hit the scene, they were good, but not as good or as important as many other bands out there. Given what’s out there now, they’re a breath of fresh air and a welcome change from the makeup gangs.

That and I was too poor cause I was a college student. I remember the show well. Promise Ring, Sense Field and Texas at Bottom of the Hill in SF. I remember not going. so so sad..
