Wednesday was my first real day at CMj cause I didn’t feel up to going down to Gigantic Studios to see What Made MF on halloween. I did listen to it on KEXP.org though. It sounded really great and I instantly regretted not going.

So I did make it down to see Tapes N’ Tapes (pictures soon) at Other Music. They did 5 songs, sort of acoustic, and really sounded great. The sound in other music is a subpar but if you knew the lyrics, the music was perfect. Then on to Pianos for Brooklyn Vegan’s showcase. I caught a bit of Nicolai Dunger, who has such an amazing voice. I forgot my ID and had to run home to get it. When I came back, I ran into Dan from the Station Myth and we saw CSS, ate burritos and I had to run back to work.

whew.

After work, I ran (actually walked) over to Mercury Lounge to see the Figurines do their best Built to Spill impersonation. After that, it was 1am when Girl Talk came on. Holy Shit. If you don’t know about Girl Talk, he’s this skinny white kid, who does these insane (illegal) mashups. Like the Pixies meet 50 Cent meet Nirvana meet Styx. Within 5 minutes, there were 50 people on stage with him, stripping and dancing. He started off in a blazer, tie and slacks and by the time he ended, he was wearing only boxers.

Tonight, I am going to Snowden, Apples in Stereo, some mystery guest, the Panthers, Black Lips, Sean na na, Rye Coalition and Bad Wizard. if you are planning on going to any of these shows, look for me. I’m the kid with the beard and glasses and camera. Haha.
