ABC’s Of PUNK (part 3) (I’m going to scream, I’m going to yell!)
Posted by Krist under ABC's Of PUNK , MUSICPart 3 is here. I can’t believe how much of a bitchslap I got for leaving out some great bands but I am sure I deserved it. haha. If I was to do it over, I would surely include Bad Brains, Dag Nasty, Bad Religion and Black Flag. Hope you like these…
Thanks for all the K suggestions. I figured I would do something a bit more obscure.
M: Minutemen - A political for Michael Jackson to sing
Minor Threat - Screaming at a Wall
One more M coming up on the next post. Any guesses on who it will be?

Misfits, Millencolin, Mad Caddies, Mustard Plug, MxPx, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Murphy’s Law, the Mekons, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Mission of Burma, MDC? Ok so some of those aren’t really punk but the Misfits are and I am going to guess them.

I’ll say Misfits or MC5, I guess MC5 would be out of alphabetical order though so maybe not.

[...] A couple of thoughts about the Punk Guy’s ABC’s of punk. Not that he’s probably ever heard of them, but I like early 90s band Kid’s Meal for the letter K. These guys were from Copperas Cove, which is right near Fort Hood and Kileen. Yeah, I guess Google Maps is in your future. This song is off of the Comping an Attitude 10″ compilation which features all Texas bands, including El Santo, Figbash, Krayons, Minority, Gomez (different from the Gomez you hear on the radio nowadays), Stretford, and of course, Kid’s Meal. Put out by Turkey Baster records, which may or may not still exist. Their address is 6403 Johnny Morris #12, Austin, TX, 78724. The record is also clear vinyl with rainbow splotches. Amazing! [...]

[...] NewYorkNightTrain is thrilled to bring Vietnam’s Michael Gerner, on break between tours, back as our guest DJ at MotorCity Wednesday. Though everybody knows Michael as the leader of Vietnam, he has a rich musical history dating back to the early 1990s: in Texas bands like the straight-edge hardcore group Minority, the Nation of Ulysses-informed Carbomb, adventure punks 100 Watt Clock and Tune in Tokyo, and, most infamously, Brittish techno indie rockers the Prima Donnas, and, in New York, as a member of the Witches and Grand Mal before forming Vietnam. Last time Mike did Motor City he played a lot of Alan Vega, Misfits, and rockabilly. I have a sneakin’ suspicion we will rock you. [...]
