I have been talking to Wes about doing a few posts about some 90’s indie rock (read: Emo) bands… Wes had sent me 3 songs that he loves and I figured, why not just post them up.. Maybe I will have some of my friends send me 3 songs that fit into this commonly miscategorized genre..

.So here are three older indie rock songs that Wes is into..

Sean Na Na - ChaChaCha

Piebald - Fat and Skinny Asses

Chisel - Looking Down at the Great Wall of China from Way up High in the Sky

I recently watched, don’t ask me why, “Meat Loaf to Hell and Back” on VH1 classic. Maybe it was because I was mindnumbingly hungover or because I just didn’t have anything better to watch. However, I ended up watching Meat grow up from little boy to a larger than life singer, watching him struggle with failure and seeing him make a heartbreaking dedication to his dead mom during his Michael Jordan-like comeback to the industry.

You know how when you watch these biographies and they have to cover a lot of ground quickly? Like they have to show that he abused alcohol so they show him not drink for the first half and then one time after a show, he gets Bukowski drunk and tells his wife “No one can tell me what to do!” while swigging a whole bottle of Jack Daniels.

… That happened a lot. And it was fantastical…
This post was going to be about a show I am going to see on friday with two bands I love and one I just started listening to, hence the title, however, I really needed to address this retarted Meat Loaf movie.

Anyway, here are three songs from the three bands I am seeing at Bowery Ballroom this friday.

the Long Winters - Hindsight

Menomena - Strongest Man in the World (one I love, see here.)

What Made Milwaukee Famous - I decide (a great new band with a weird name)

PS also a friend of mine told me that they didnt know how to DLoad the songs on my site.
