I can’t believe how many posts and blogs I read that rarely mention some of the better older hip hop.
I would love to post two songs that were influential hip hop songs from the late 80’s, early 90’s.
First is..
KMD doing Peachfuzz. KMD features MF Doom before he got all indie. Also featured is the late Zev Love X. Kmd was down with 3rd Bass. This is when Hip Hop still had a light air to it. It is a lot of fun and is even pretty self derogatory.

The next is..
Main Source doing Lookin” at the Front door. Main Source was the first group to feature Nas on any record, back when he was known as Nasty Nas. Lookin at the front Door was pretty anthemic to my friends growing up. And we used to love singing (rapping?) the line “I should win an award for lots of patience” cause it sounds nothing like that..
Also the Large Professor became one of the bigger producers to come out of this era thus defining the NY Sound.

Hip to the Hop. Don’t Stop.
